1957 Aermacchi Chimera

1957 Aermacchi Chimera The Chimera (dream) was the star of the 1956 Milan Motorcycle show, with its ultra modern appearance. The Chimera's bodywork hid a fairly conventional 175cc engine, having a horizontal engine much like the Moto Guzzi. The Chimera was a sales flop and so Aermacchi undressed the bike to create some of Italy's best known sports and racing bikes, such as the Ala Verde and Ala d'Oro. Failure many times leads to great advancements. Aermacchi was bought by Harley Davidson in 1972 and they provided Harley with their only World Championships (3) in road racing.
