2007 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

2007 Porsche 911 GT3 RS The Porsche has long been admired for its sexy looks and impressive performance. This variant of the GT3 is geared towards racing enthusiasts and is especially suited for the track. Although drivers will be impressed with its speedy performance, the GT3 RS is a fully road-legal sports car. The RS stands for Rennsport which is German for “race sport” and one time behind the wheel of this baby and you’ll quickly learn why.

More Than Just Great Looks

Don’t be fooled by its sleek looks; this sports car is built for speed demons. The GT3 RS features a powerful 3.6-litre engine that can generate 415 bhp at 7,600 rpm with maximum revs capping at 8,400 rpm. The engine’s output is 115.3 bhp and will allow you to accelerate from 0 to 100 km in an astonishing 4.2 seconds. If you love speed, you’ll be able reach 200 km in a mere 13.3 seconds with a maximum speed of 310 km. The RS can also stop from 60 mph in 101 feet which makes it ones of the shortest-stopping sports cars available.

Lightweight Construction, But Solid Performance

The lighter vehicle weight and close-ratio six-speed transmission with a single-mass flywheel also help to increase the RS’s racing performance. The RS model weighs 1375 kg which is 20 kg less than the previous GT3 model. Designers achieved this feat by utilizing a lightweight rear window and rear lid made of plastic, as well as a lightweight, adjustable carbon fiber wing.

The RS also features wheels that are less offset than the previous model. This increases the rear track by 1.3 inches. Although the RS is very similar to the 911 GT3, the body shell is based on the 911 Carrera 4 model. The wider rear bodywork results in more racing rubber within the vehicle’s fenders. The racing performance of the RS is further enhanced by the deep front airdam with a small aero splitter that improves downforce and allows more cooling air to enter the radiator.

Advanced PASM Suspension

The suspension of the RS is also designed with racing in mind. Dampers with threaded spring collars enable quick and easy adjustments to corner weights and ride height. The Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) is the same as the GT3, but the two-mode dampers are revalved to increase performance. The Normal and Sport modes of the PASM are more impressive than the previous GT3 model. Drivers can corner and handle the bumps at fast speeds with ease thanks to the advanced suspension compliance.

The Sex Appeal Continues With the Interior

The GT3 RS looks just as great inside as outside. The standard and club sports package both feature 2 buckets seats. The carbon fiber composite materials used in their construction make them very lightweight. Other features include pre-wring for the main switch of the battery, a bolted roll cage, fire extinguisher and six-point driver’s seatbelt. Black is the color of the internal trims which perfectly accents the high-quality leather steering wheel, gear stick and roof lining.
