The
Nardi Blue Ray (Raggio Azzurro) was created by Enrico
Nardi, Blue Ray 1 was finished in September 1955 and introduced at the Turin Auto Show, and later at the Paris and New York Auto shows; Blue Ray 2 was finished in 1958 and still exists.
Blue Ray 1 was built on a
Nardi-designed tubular steel road racing chassis; a Lancia B20 engine powers Blue Ray. As
Nardi was a Tuner and Aftermarket equipment manufacturer, updates included special camshaft, pistons, exhaust mainfolds, alloy radiator, cast air scoop, and intake manifold for the dual double-throat Weber 40DCZS carburetors.
The 2.5 litre engine produces 190 bhp at 5,500 rpm and the car tops out at 140 mph; it has a
Nardi floor-mounted gear shift and a four speed Aurelia B20 transaxle with inboard drum brakes. The 68-spoke wheels were specially commissioned from Borrani.
The coachwork was designed by Giovanni Michelotti arid built by Vignale. All of the coachwork is alloy, including the floors and inner fenders; the roof, rear window anti side windows are blue PerspeX.
Blue Ray 1 was honored at the 1989 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
