
The Huron River Manufacturing Company of
Ann Arbor, Michigan built the Ann Arbor's. Since no corporate records are known to exist, it is difficult to determine the actual number of vehicles built and sold. Based upon the limited information available, it is believed that 7 vehicles were built between 1911 and 1912. The 1912 model had a smaller box and only one removable Seat. This 1911 is the only
Ann Arbor known to survive. Cost new $957.00 plus $50.00 extra for Top, Side Curtains and transparent storm front. Total cost new $1,025.00 ($22,539 today). The Wheeler Family of Northfield Twp. purchased it new, it was sold in 1950 to Ted Balmer of Chelsea and he in turn sold it B.E.French of
Ann Arbor in 1955. In 1996 B.E's widow Joan French transferred ownership to Art French.
This 1911, is the original Crossover (Car/Pickup) Rated as a 3/4 ton pickup.
The bed also holds two additional removable seats, making it a work vehicle or
family vehicle depending on the need. Weight is 2.140 pounds. The wheel base 120
inches, with a 56" tread. Tires are 34" x 41/2".
Powered by a 4 cylinder Davis engine 25 Hp. Cylinders are 4 1/8 inches in diameter and have a stroke of 4 1/2 inches. Top speed 27 mph. The

The factory was located on Wilot Street, just North of Summit and West of the
Ann Arbor Railroad Tracks. It was Ann Arbor's first and only automobile factory.
