Audi has earned worldwide respect and recognition for winning numerous international motorsport races. The company’s engineers were determined to design a vehicle capable of beating the competition in long-distance racing. They succeeded with the Audi R8 that won the LeMans 24 Hours an impressive 5 times starting in 2000 to 2005.
Incorporating the innovative technology and engineering of the five-time LeMans winner, the Audi R8 is a truly impressive sports car. The production version of this spectacular model debuted at the Paris Motor Show to the marvel of admiring spectators.
Engine
One of the most impressive features of the 2007 Audi R8 is its V10 5.0-liter engine containing a twin turbo system and 40 valves (2 exhaust valves and 2 intake valves per each cylinder). The engine is capable of producing a remarkable 745N of torque and 610 hp.
The 2007 Audi R8 can reach 0 to 100 kmh in an astonishing 3.7 seconds! If you are a true speed fan, you don’t need to worry when you purchase this model. This supercar can reach impressive speeds of 301 kmh; it could reach 350 kmh if it weren’t for the speed limiter.
Design
The Audi R8 is as gorgeous visually as it is impressive on the road or on the racetrack. The lightweight and compact Audi Space Frame (ASF) aluminum body improves the driving performance. The frame provides an attractive combination of maximum rigidity and minimal weight. The roof is gently curved and the three-dimensional LED headlights are sure to attract your attention. The rounded wheel housings that are very typical of Audi are accentuated by the dynamic line that runs from above the arches of the wheel and shoulder link, side and rear leading to the side air vent.
The single-frame grille is trapezoidal in shape and surrounded by large air intakes. Another feature is the rear spoiler that automatically rises and then lowers flush with the body of the vehicle according to the driver’s speed. A unique transparent engine hood means you can view the engine from the rear window or from inside the car.
Features
The vehicle comes with LED daytime running and rear lights, anti-theft alarm, Xenon plus lights, a 7-inch monitor and 18-inch aluminum wheels. Drivers have a choice of a manual 6-speed gearbox or the Audi R tronic sequential-shift gearbox. Racing fans will appreciate the fact that the paddles are located on the steering wheel. This enables them to changes fears from the steering wheel which is a feature often seen in the world of motorsport.
Audi Magnetic Ride
Another impressive feature is the Audi magnetic ride. This is basically an adaptive damper system designed to enhance driving performance and comfort. The shock absorbers of this vehicle replace traditional damper fluid with one where an electromagnetic field alters the viscosity. This is called a magnetorheological fluid; it allows the damping characteristic to be electronically altered almost instantly. This innovative suspension system allows the vehicle to adapt to the road, as well as the driver’s style, almost instantly.
